Solar projects bring hundreds of thousands of work hours for UBC members annually. It’s up to us to help get more of these projects off the ground!

We need your help submitting emailed letters of support to the Ohio Power Siting Board for the Chestnut Solar project in Marion County, Ohio. It takes all of us, and we are stronger together.

Ohio Power Siting Board and Staff,

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in Case #22-0988-EL-BGN, Chestnut Solar. As a member of the greater Marion County community, I would like to clearly express my support for the certification of Chestnut Solar. Chestnut Solar has adhered to all the procedures and standards required by large electric generating facilities in the State of Ohio.

Chestnut Solar will be a positive impact on the the broader community for the following reasons:

● The investment will create significant economic activity

● The investment will create over 200 construction jobs for technical and highly skilled regional professionals

● The investment will increase and diversify the tax base in Marion County for 30 year or more

● Upon the finalization of a Payment in Lieu of Tax (“PILOT”) agreement the project will generate millions of dollars for Pleasant Township Schools

● Upon the finalization of a PILOT agreement the project will make direct payments to Career
Development centers in Marion County further supporting the community for years to come

● Upon the finalization of a PILOT agreement the project will make direct payments to Marion
County and Pleasant Township to maintain and improve its local infrastructure and emergency
services

● The project utilizes and enhances existing transmission infrastructure previously certified by the Ohio Power Siting Board

● The project will generate local electricity and enhance national security

● The project will encourage further investment in Marion County from companies requiring carbon neutral electricity
