Scaffold Standards
Having the UBC scaffold card will allow members to take a dispatch to a jobsite that is requiring it’s Carpenters to have the UBC scaffold training to be allowed to build scaffold on their project. Apprentices receive this training in the second year of their training.
All of our members are also required, by contract, to have the OSHA 30 hour class as a condition of referral. The OSHA 30 class will also touch on scaffolding, ladders, and fall protection that makes a great partner certification for the UBC scaffold certification.
Training & Education are Crucial for Scaffolding
All members who take the class receive 16 hours of classroom time, and 24 hours of hands on time. During the classroom session, members are trained on OSHA 1926 Subpart L – Scaffolds and Subpart M fall protection as it applies to scaffolding. Additionally members are trained on load calculations to make sure that a scaffold they are erecting doesn’t exceed the limits of the material they are working with.
Members are given training on part names, safe material handling practices, proper rope usage to safely rig materials, and many tricks of the trade by our instructors who have many years of experience building scaffolding in an industrial setting. After 4 years, members are required to take an 8-hour refresher course covering regulations and refreshing load calculations.
Why CMRCC?
With the many parts handled while building a scaffold, we know the importance of an efficient, skilled workforce. Our members are well-trained and take pride in their careers. Safety is their top priority, on the ground or in the sky. UBC Members understand how dropped objects can affect safety of workers and equipment. Our goal is to erect all scaffolds with a zero drop rate.
CMRCC certified Scaffold builders have the superior skills needed to ensure your jobsite runs safely and efficiently. To receive certification, inspectors must complete a 40-hour hands-on course and pass a rigorous certification test.
